What is the Youth Leadership Program?

Sci-Port’s Youth Leadership Program is a chance for high school and college students to develop their leadership skills while helping children to learn about science and math through the Summer Science Blast Camp, Holiday Day Camp and Spring Break Day Camp programs.
Students are required to volunteer for a minimum of two weeks (which do not need to be consecutive).

Who can apply?
Any student entering their junior or senior year of high school.

  • One letter of recommendation
  • Must be entering 11th or 12th grade
  • Interest in science & learning
  • Curious
  • Hardworking
  • Show initiative
  • Energetic
  • Dependable

What you’ll get:

Sessions Available:
  • June 5-9
  • June 12-16
  • June 19-23
  • June 26-30
  • July 10-14
  • July 17-21
  • July 24-28
  • July 31-Aug. 4

Morning shifts:
8 a.m.–Noon, Monday–Friday
Afternoon shifts:
Noon–4 p.m., Monday–Friday

Full day sessions must be approved
through Shaterica Thomas.

All volunteers are required to attend the full day training for their session. The training for May/June volunteers will be held from
9 a.m.–3 p.m.
(with a 30–minute lunch break and two 15 minute breaks) on Saturday, June 3.

The training for July volunteers will be held from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. (with a 30 minute lunch break and two 15 minute breaks)
on Saturday, July 22.

Training sessions will discuss camp curriculum and will provide professional development for Youth Volunteers.

Sessions will include:

  • Interaction/Presentation training
  • Interview Training
  • Resume Training
  • The ability to receive the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award
